The Migos: PepFilmStudios’ First Feature Film and the Story Behind It
PepFilmStudios is proud to introduce its first feature film The Migos, a raw Oakland-born thriller that blends scripted storytelling with moments of improvisation to capture the realness of community, trauma, and revenge.
The Story Behind The Migos
Set in Oakland, The Migos follows Jane as she uncovers the truth about her new love interest, who is secretly tied to a past home invasion that changed her life. As the tension builds, a female-led crew known as The Migos sets out to rob a stash house, blurring the lines between vigilantes and criminals.
The film explores themes of love, betrayal, survival, and community resilience. With its chapter-based narrative, time jumps, and split-screen sequences, The Migos mirrors the complexity of Oakland life and the raw emotions behind revenge-driven choices.

Led by filmmaker and actor Derrick Peprah, the cast reflects the strength and creativity of Oakland’s artistic community.
Behind the Scenes
Filmed entirely in Oakland, The Migos was produced with a lean but dedicated crew, proving that vision and determination matter more than budget. By combining scripted scenes with improvisation, the actors had space to bring their authentic voices to the screen.
With just one videographer, one boom operator, and one director guiding the project, PepFilmStudios created a feature that is both intimate and cinematic, rooted in the neighborhoods that inspired it.
A Word from the Director
Reflecting on the journey, director Derrick Peprah shared:
“The cast went above and beyond. They did their best, worked hard, and truly brought this vision to life. It was fun, it was challenging, but it was worth every moment. I remember one of the scenes we had to shoot outside in the cold everyone was freezing, but we pushed through and got it done. That dedication is what makes this film special.”
The Community Connection
The Migos is more than just a film. It is a movement that highlights what independent filmmaking can achieve when a community comes together. From fundraisers like A Night With The Migos to ongoing support through donations and social media engagement, PepFilmStudios has built momentum by making the people of Oakland central to the journey.
The response has already been powerful. The official trailer has surpassed one hundred thousand views on Instagram and the PepFilmStudios page has reached over two hundred thousand views across all content in less than a month.
Upcoming Premiere
Audiences will not have to wait long to experience The Migos on the big screen. The highly anticipated premiere is scheduled for October 25, 2025 at The New Parkway Theater in Oakland, California. Tickets will be going on sale soon, and the event is expected to draw strong community support as PepFilmStudios presents its first feature film alongside other projects.
